- Canota Monument, Villavicencio Nature Reserve, El Balcón Viewpoint, Aconcagua Viewpoint.
Description
This excursion is much more than just a transfer to the Andes: it is a complete journey through unique landscapes, historical landmarks, and places filled with natural and cultural energy.
The itinerary begins at the Canota Monument, a key point in General San Martín’s campaign, and continues into the Villavicencio Nature Reserve, a protected area renowned for its rich native flora and fauna.
Inside the reserve lies Villavicencio Park, an adventure park ideal for those seeking an adrenaline rush. From here, we take the famous Caracoles Route, a winding mountain road that ascends to El Balcón Viewpoint, offering unparalleled panoramic views of the valley and the iconic Hotel Villavicencio. As the road climbs higher, we reach the Aconcagua Viewpoint, where, on clear days, the majestic summit of the “Colossus of America” comes into sight.
The journey continues to the mysterious Jesuit Ruins of Paramillos, remnants of the presence of the Society of Jesus in the Andes, and the historic Paramillos Mines, one of the oldest mining centers in South America. Nearby, the Darwin Petrified Forest offers a unique geological scene, where time seems frozen among the remains of millenary trees.
On the way back to the valley, we pass through Agua de la Zorra and arrive at Cerro Tunduqueral, famous for its pre-Columbian petroglyphs—ancient carvings left by indigenous peoples. Finally, in Uspallata, you’ll have the chance to visit the Marañón Arts Park, a cultural space blending art and nature, and the historic Las Bóvedas Museum, which preserves colonial structures tied to the Army of the Andes.
This experience combines history, nature, culture, and adventure in a single day—perfect for curious travelers, outdoor enthusiasts, and those wishing to discover the deeper, authentic Mendoza beyond the traditional routes.
